Coven Academy: Tiffani Thiessen’s Return to TV Has a Premiere Date

"Coven Academy" has yet to premiere, but it already has a confirmed date: October 1 on Freeform, with the full season arriving the following day on Disney+ and Hulu. The first teaser has also been released, set to Olivia Rodrigo's "Brutal." With not a single episode available yet, it's this combination of a confirmed premiere date and newly released promotional material that has put the series on the radar.

The project was announced in August 2025 by Tim Federle, creator of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series," and stands out as an original production from Disney Branded Television rather than an adaptation of an existing franchise or book. The story follows a trio of witches in training who must protect New Orleans from ancient forces while sharing a magical school with vampire and werewolf classmates.

The biggest name in the cast is Tiffani Thiessen, who plays Miss Graves, the academy's headmistress. The role marks the actress's return to television after memorable turns in "Saved by the Bell," "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "White Collar." The cast also includes Malina Pauli Weissman ("A Series of Unfortunate Events") as Briar, Malachi Barton ("Zombies 4") as Jake, and Devon Sawa ("Final Destination") in a guest role as a magic teacher.

For now, that's all there is to evaluate: an announced cast, a date on the calendar and a teaser. The real test comes in October, when the series moves beyond expectations and can finally be judged on what it actually delivers.
