Masters of The Universe
Hey everyone, which movie do you prefer: He-Man (1987) or He-Man (2026)?

Man, this is such a tough one because the 1987 movie is pure, unadulterated childhood nostalgia for me. Frank Langella’s Skeletor is unironically one of the best campy villain performances of that entire decade, and Dolph Lundgren looked exactly like a living action figure. It’s a total guilty pleasure. That being said, if I’m looking at them objectively as movies, the 2026 version blows it out of the water. The new film actually respects the Eternia lore instead of sending He-Man to Earth to save money on the budget like the original did, lol. The practical effects combined with modern CGI gave us a world that feels vast and epic, and the fight choreography is insane. So yeah, 1987 has my heart for the retro vibes, but 2026 is definitely the superior Masters of the Universe movie. It actually felt like the cartoon came to life.

Okay Anthony, you made some great points about the CGI and choreography, but let’s talk about the real reason the 2026 version gets my vote: Nicholas Galitzine is an absolute babe.
Seriously, have you seen him? He is SO much cuter than Dolph Lundgren ever was. Sorry not sorry to the 1987 fans, but I am happily watching the new movie on repeat just for him!
