Just saw the news on Variety and looks like one is going to be a total reboot with a younger cast, and the other one is that older project with Margot Robbie. They're really burying Jack Sparrow for good this time. What do you guys think? Is the franchise dead without him or are you actually hyped for a fresh start?

Hey everyone! Just stumbled upon this forum yesterday and honestly, thank god a place like this exists now. Been looking for a good alternative space to talk movies without all the toxicity of Reddit.Perfect timing too, because this Disney news is wild. As a massive fan of the original Gore Verbinski trilogy (the world-building and lore in Dead Man’s Chest were top-tier), I’m pretty skeptical about a "young reboot." Disney has been struggling with its franchises lately, and turning Pirates into a generic teen adventure feels like a total corporate cash grab.That being said, if Craig Mazin (the guy behind Chernobyl and The Last of Us) is still attached to write the script, I might give it a chance. But man... replacing the chaotic energy of Jack Sparrow is going to be near impossible.Glad to be here early while the forum is fresh! Any other lore nerds around here?
